Travelogue: A Thurso Wedding |
|

On Thursday, we flew to Inverness Scotland and drove to Thurso, at the northern tip of Scotland. While the weather held out, it was freezing since the wind was coming from the North Sea. On the day of the wedding, Barton and I had woken up early.
We were headed out on a walk to find some rocks on the coast. Well, it wasnÙt exactly what we found. While we did walk by the water, we were more interested in the castle that lay in ruins down a little dirt road. While the castle itself was on private property, we did get fairly close. We made a detour and walked to, what we thought was a small castle but what turned out to be a burial site, in the middle of a field. The Burial Place of the Sinclairs of Ulbster. We stayed at the site a while before returning to get ready for the wedding.
The wedding was beautiful- a traditional Scottish wedding, later we danced a few Celtic dances and drank scotch- Barton had more than I did. We watched fireworks from inside since it was freezing cold by that time. Since the sun sets so late, it was midnight before we knew it, and I am sure the dancing carried on much later.
